If you’d like to know how to buy a golf cart – this is the page for you!
First things first, we always go thru our carts to make sure things are operating as they should and in good order. This could cost a few hundred bucks to fix any minor problem because we only use late model golf carts to start with vs. buying an older golf cart that has started to corrode away, used a lot more causing things to wear out or be destroyed by lack of maintaining the cart. This type of cart purchase could cost you thousands more in repairs to just get operating properly before you even begin the customization.
We recommend installing new batteries and replacing the battery charger on electric models to insure the heart of your cart’s electrical system is in good health.
Then we will begin any transformation desired. We can build anything you can imagine. “From mild to wild… Pete has the cart for you!” That’s us…
We ask Pete about his philosophy on building a golf cart … Pete says:
“My grandfather once told me “Son, always buy the best car, boat, house – whatever it might be you can for the money.” My grandfather made his living in the automotive service industry, owned gas stations and auto repair garages, car dealerships, and was an avid car guy, restorer and collector for 70 yrs of his life.”
I think his meaning was this – make an informed purchase or acquisition based on facts. Just like you might on any large purchase within your business or household.
Good questions to ask
Learn about the product you are looking to or needing to purchase. Ask questions to self to narrow down what you want vs need. Look into maintenance, storage, operating costs, resale value, etc… then once you have compiled some information you can now analyze and make that informed decision.
Though, for most people when buying and selling something, it becomes personal. How strong you feel about the object you are trying to buy or sell will determine the actual amount you receive or that you paid or signed up to pay over time. So-called the phrase “Impulse Buy!!!!” This is the candy bar by the teller at the checkout in any store.
When purchasing a golf cart you might want to ask questions like:
- What do I need it to do?
- How many passengers do I intend to transport?
- How does it need to perform under these circumstances?
- How good I want it to look or sound while doing these things?

Try it out
Next you set out into the market either locally driving to a shop or dealer to touch and feel one. Kinda try it on for size like you might a pair of shoes. But buyer beware… just like anything mechanical, especially electrical: you get what you pay for…
I personally always feel comfortable buying a old car or piece of machinery because I know how they work. A golf cart is only slightly different because basically it is mechanical in nature but has some electrical systems that provide motive power to the golf cart. So attention is due in order to reap the benefits of golf cart ownership.
