Description
48 Volt 200 Amp Golf Cart Pre-Charge Resistor
This listing is for one 48 Volt 200 Amp Golf Cart Pre-Charge Resistor. A resistor will keep the solenoid in good working order. This type of resistor is placed across the large power terminals of your solenoid. It pre-charges the filter capacitors in your electronic speed controller which will minimize the voltage surge across the contacts on your high amp solenoid. This reduces arcing off the contacts which minimizes pitting as they close. Plain copper contacts experience the worst pitting and wear because they cannot tolerate peak currents. Excessive pitting over time causes the contacts to weld together or not make a good contact.
Additional Notes: You cannot install it the wrong way. Either side ring terminal will attach to either terminal. The pre-charge circuit will draw little to no power. Resistor value is determined by battery pack voltage. Diode attaches to small terminals; silver stripe on diode will go towards positive side.
Every solenoid needs a resistor and diode to function properly. You can purchase the corresponding diode for this resistor here.
